MUSIC MINISTRY AT ZION

The number of people who bring such variety of musical gifts and skills to share and serve God is truly wonderful! All are warmly invited to share their musical talent.

MUSIC AT WORSHIP

We have three worship services on the weekend.

Saturday Night Worship at 5:00 pm has a contemporary style of music. Most of the hymns are upbeat and played on a keyboard.

Sunday Morning Services are at 8:15 and 10:45 am. (9:45am June-Labor Day). The style of music is traditional with organ music.

The fourth worship service is "The Bridge" Sunday nights at 6:00 pm are held on Confirmation Class nights only. Fall through Spring. Contemporary worship with keyboard. See calendar or Worship times for dates.

PRAISE CHOIR

Zion' Praise Choir consists of members from High School age and older. No special talent required, just the willingness to use your musical gifts. The Family Choir prepares special offertory music in a wide variety of styles for the Saturday or Sunday morning worship services. The choir sings twice a month

We also welcome musicians with instrumental skills who can offer their musical gifts to enhance the worship experience. We’ve had trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, violin, flute, bass – to mention just a few.

HANDBELL CHOIRS

There are two adult Handbell Choirs for those in High School through adult. These groups require some basic knowledge of music. They perform once a month at different church services.

YOUTH ENSEMBLE are children in 3^rd through 8^th grade who have an interest in music. This builds skills in music and prepares the children to someday join the adult ringing choirs. This handbell choir performs once a month and the style of music is geared for the service.

Tuning In To Our Faith

It's with a great deal of excitement and hope that we're announcing a new home for Tuning In To Our Faith.

Starting February 5 we are coming to Sunday mornings!

Our group will meet the first Sunday of the month through May. We'll be in room 3 (behind the gathering area of the sanctuary) from 9:30-10:30. Yes, this is the Sunday School time frame, between worship services. We hope that parents (and Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles and siblings....) of SCS children will spend that hour with us. You don't need to bring anything besides an interest in music. We play Christian and inspirational music videos and talk about their meaning in our faith lives. We use music by some people you probably know (Lincoln Brewster, Alan Jackson, Elvis, Stephen Curtis Chapman) and some by people you may not know at all. In the end we expect that you'll enjoy the music, the message and the fellowship! We hope to see you Sunday the 5th. Please feel free to bring a friend!

What this is – a monthly exploration of how music can be one of the building blocks of a solid faith.

What this is not – Bible study, or a Worship Service. Those items are essential in our faith life, but they will need to be found elsewhere.

We will certainly pray and read or reference scripture. There is no good way to build a strong faith without God’s word. But, we will let the words of the song writers and musicians be the basis for the majority of our discussions.

We plan to have meaningful conversations about our individual Christian faiths inspired by the music and lyrics that we hear. It is our expectation that those who choose to join us will leave each gathering with new-found paths for their spiritual journeys.
