SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Christian Education program is an extension of our mission to help people grow in their relationship with God.  We believe Sunday School is an important element in the spiritual development, and children up through adult have the opportunity to hear the message of God’s love, outside of the worship service.

Sunday school operates from September to May.  There are classes available for everyone starting with the three-year old preschooler all the way up to an adult class.  We use the Faith Weaver curriculum in Kindergarten through High School, which shares the same bible lessons each week and allows for further discussion at home.  Our Sunday school hour runs from 9:30 – 10:30 every Sunday morning.

Preschool

We have two preschool classrooms serving the three and four year old children.  The focus in the classroom is to reinforce basic bible concepts through everyday experiences using crafts, activities, games and song.

Kindergarten – 5th Grade

This group meets for a brief ten-minute opening in the sanctuary, which introduces the lesson.  The children focus on the bible point for that morning through skits and other forms of teaching.  After the opening they move into their classrooms for an additional and meaningful look into the message.

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

This group comes together at the beginning of class for an opening activity that relates to the teachings for that morning.  The students then divide by gender into their own classrooms to reinforce the lesson through activities that are relevant to daily situations in their life.

Adults

The One Year Bible Study- The Book of Romans
The adults gather for an in-depth bible study course using the One Year Bible.  The bible they use is arranged in 365 daily readings.  The daily readings include passages from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs.  The class meets to discuss the passages from the previous week and to gain a better understanding of its meaning.

Book of Faith Bible Study
This is your invitation to engage in the vision that the whole church become more fluent in the first language of faith, the language of Scripture, in order that we might live into our calling as a people renewed, enlivened, empowered, and sent by the word.

Introduction to the Bible
Begin an exciting trip through the Bible. Join us this fall and watch the Bible unfold as a beautiful, divinely inspired true story, with a beginning, a middle and an end, yet to come.

The Wired Word
The Wired Word brings lessons and discussions relevant to modern Christian living to life. Members will engage in thought-provoking, stimulating discussions on the messages contained in the biblical texts covered each week and apply biblical truths to today's culture.

We have over twenty, qualified, trained and enthusiastic volunteers leading and teaching the children and youth in this program.  We are a "Safe Sanctuary" church, which means that we have implemented policies and procedures to keep our children and youth as safe as possible.

FAITH STEPPING STONES

THE FAITH 5
Starting in September
Every Night in Every Home

When I consider that Zion’s mission is to love God, and to love our neighbor because nothing else matters, I can’t think of a better place for the mission to be learned and practiced than in the home. Strengthening family ties is one of the best ways I know for this to happen, because the primary place where faith is caught and taught and experienced is the home. Since the church is a partner with families in teaching the faith, I am really excited about presenting Every Night in Every Home. Imagine the difference that can be made when families gather together for daily conversation around the “Faith 5.”:

  • Sharing the day's highs and lows;
  • Sharing a word from Scripture;
  • Talking about how that Scripture applies to the day they have just expereinced;
  • Praying with and for each other;
  • Giving each other a blessing

Imagine the impact on families and their faith life! It doesn’t matter whether it occurs at the dinner hour, or just before the youngest goes to bed, the Every Night in Every Home is drawing families together, and reminding them that they are loved
